A Dark Dividing by Sarah Rayne: haunting, beautiful, gripping, compelling, confusing. It tells the stories of two sets of conjoined twins, born almost a century apart; their lives become gradually more intertwined as the story unfolds to its bittersweet climax. The diary entries from Charlotte, mother of the twins born in 1900, are reminiscent of a Bridget Jones of old times: the writing is refreshing in its honesty and the hints of humour throughout only bring more poignancy to an already fantastic read.

Definitely recommended.
