An Introduction to English Runes was one of those books that sent a sigh through me when I first picked it up. In the course of investigating psychology of comparative religions – specifically, Catholicism and Paganism – I have come across so many ridiculous tomes about runes, divination, witchcraft and general history that I was skeptical to say the least.

This was, however, an interesting and insightful work by a scholar and historian, rather than a preaching mystic. Worth a read if you’re interested in actually finding out about the history of runic inscriptions; but if you’re into the whole mystic side of things, you’ll be bored stiff.
