First to Die by James Patterson is an excellent book. Surprisingly so, because after reading the first couple of chapters I didn’t hold out much hope for it. A group of high-flying women set up a murder club alongside an official investigation into a series of bride-and-groom murders. Not the most unusual of ideas, perhaps; and often, men writing about women seem to get it all wrong. Patterson, however, somehow manages to get it just right. And here you have it: an excellent book. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry… possibly literally. Read it.
