Heavy Words Lightly Thrown by Chris Roberts was one of those books that had so much potential. It should have been a gripping marathon through the country of the rhyme, telling me things I hadn’t known before. It wasn’t, though. It was a book of rhymes, with vague and very well-known explanations of their origins. Also not very well-researched; it was evident in certain places that the writer had just plonked an opinion onto the page with no real back-up. Disappointing; don’t bother with it. You can find far better books on the same theme.
