Tora Hamilton is a consultant surgeon, and as such, she’s used to seeing death up close. Corpses don’t scare her. Until she finds one on her property: a woman who hasn’t been dead more than a decade or so. But no one knows who she is or where she came from.
The remote community of Shetland is closed off at the best of times, but as people band together to try to put an end to her investigation, Tora suddenly has no idea who she can trust. All at once, her marriage, her career and perhaps even her life are in danger.
But what is going on on the strange island of Tronal? Does the answer lie somewhere in its mysterious and well-guarded buildings?
To be honest, it’s not the best thing I’ve ever read. But it’s up there with the entertaining reads, and certainly worth a look if you find it in a charity shop.
