Possibly the most irresponsible yet joyful purchase I have ever made is a pair of 18th-century Gujurati columns which I found at The Old Cinema in Chiswick. It’s a fantastic place filled with beautiful things: for the Brightonians among you, it’s like a much better version of Snooper’s Paradise. Continue reading “The columns are here!”
It’s been a while since I updated the list of things that still need to be done around the flat, so I thought I’d grit my teeth and work it out today.
Although I feel like I’ve hardly done anything, there have been a few very productive days, which means I’ve probably done more than I thought I’d achieved.
The other day a Wonderful Thing happened with my flat. If you’ve been following the Flat Saga, you will know that Wonderful Things are not often forthcoming around here, so when they do happen I get Very Excited.

I have a beautiful big bay window in my living room. I love it. It was one of the reasons I decided to take the flat.
It’s also disgusting. Continue reading “How To Remove Internal Glazing”
I recently took a week off to work on my flat. There is so much to be done, but I’m gradually chipping away at the list (literally, in some cases) and progress is being made, albeit at a very slow pace.
One thing I really wanted to finish last week was stripping the living room wallpaper. I’ve stripped many rooms in my time, and it’s never taken longer than a day before. This room, however: this room is my nemesis. I thought I’d somehow lost the ability to strip paper, until a builder came over, took one look at the walls and said “This must be hell to strip.” Continue reading “Well, I got some stuff done…”
