To kick off my literary reflections for 2017, here are my favourite fiction books from this year. (Note that not all of these were published this year, that’s just when I read them.)
The following are abridged reviews; where there’s a longer version on the blog, I’ve linked to it. Blurbs are either from the back of the book, or from Amazon.
Try to rewrite your Twitter bio without talking about your job.
It’s surprisingly hard, right?
In case you hadn’t gathered from my increasingly sleep-deprived tweets, things are a little crazy right now. It’s conference season, and I have a giant backlog which is only being increased by the number of other engagements that keep dropping into my calendar.
Coming up over the next few weeks:
Sometimes these days I get so caught up in my day-to-day reality that I forget to take a step back and remember that I’m literally living the life I dreamed about for years.
It’s hard to remember sometimes, when that dream involves working really long hours, doing my accounts, and living surrounded by packed boxes for over a year while all the works on my flat are completed (but: my flat! my space! my home!).
Also I’m doing this project that involves finding good expat blogs and writing about them, and it keeps making me want to move abroad/just travel around for a living.
I wrote that sentence and then I realised that for most of this year I actually *am* travelling around for a living, lol
I wrote that the other day in an email to my friend. And then I looked at it and wondered why I hadn’t realised I was pretty much already living the dream.
